Kokoda trekker Kokoda river crossing Trekking the Kokoda Track

For Australians and Papuans, the Kokoda Track has great historical significance, as this was the location that in World War II, Australia's under prepared, inexperienced and outnumbered soldiers defeated the advancing forces of the mighty Japanese Imperial Army. The Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice displayed by our soldiers ensures that the Kokoda Track will remain a “classic pilgrimage” as trekkers from around the world come to honour the efforts of our hero’s in 1942.

Challenge and Conquer one of the worlds hardest, most historical and sacred treks. Escorted by an expert Australian guide you will traverse 96kms across the mighty Owen Stanley Ranges into and through the heart and soul of Papua New Guinea. You will hike for more than 50hrs through the thick tropical jungle, winding up and over steep ridge lines, then descend into slippery muddy valleys and cross fast flowing rivers.

At night we will stay in tents or guesthouses in the friendly remote villages owned by the ancestors of the “Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels”, there you can interact with their families and friends whilst relishing in their beautiful singing and rich culture. It takes 10 days / 9 nights to complete the track and during this amazing journey you will challenge yourself physically and mentally. Discover your inner strengths and come home with the personal achievement that you have completed one of the toughest jungle treks in the world.

The best time to walk the Kokoda track is in the dry season from Mid April to Mid November. Cutting Edge Adventures Australia have scheduled departure in June that anyone is welcome to join. Our June Trip commences on the 17th June and concludes on the 28th June with a Dawn Service held at the Isurava Memorial.
